Buyer tips:
    Bidding - We found that placing our 'max bid' for an auction item is the best way to win an auction item at OUR PRICE.  We eliminated the need to constantly log in to eBay to place another bid because we were outbid on an auction item.During springtime of 2002 we were in need of 32mb SmartMedia cards, our local discount store is selling them for $ 29.95 and online stores were selling them for $ 19.99 + S/H. We logged in to eBay to bid on Smartmedia cards and we wanted a BARGAIN at our price!  We bid on every Smartmedia card for every seller who had a shipping fee of less than $ 7.00.  Our max bid was $ 10.10. Over a period of two weeks and 200 bids, we had won 12 auctions!! One seller agreed to ship our 4 winning auctions for one fee of $ 3.90 S/H, that means we purchased 4 cards { 40.40 + 3.90 S/H } we paid $ 44.30 for 4 cards !!!! what a bargain!! The other cards which won auctions at $8.00 - 10.10 were also a great bargain, the $6.00 S/H fee for each card was a bit high, but $16.10 max price was still less to pay than any online store or our local discount store.    
Descriptions - Always, always, always READ THE DESCRIPTION COMPLETLY - BEFORE BIDDING!!!
Is the product new or used? Like new is not new, almost new is not new, open box or open package is not new.
Reconditioned, remanufactured and factory serviced is NOT new!  Often these items should sell for 30% less than new.  Is it used?  How used is it?  A description such as " used to work like new " is NOT a good ndication that the product is in good condition.  How many are you bidding on?  If the title and description clearly states
the description as "16 Bandanas in 8 styles" - you are bidding on 16 NOT 128.  If you have ANY doubt or suspicion about anything listed in the description, email the vendor and get a reply before you bid on the item.
Feedback rating of seller - Always, always, always read the feedback comments of the seller BEFORE bidding on a seller's auction.  This will indicate their most recent success or complaints of recent buyers. Find out that a seller has 3 recent negative feedbacks after the auction is too late!

    Fraud - The highest percent of complaints of Internet fraud reported to authorities point to the sellers of online auction websites to cheat honest people. Please use Internet safeguards such as using PayPal for your payments, send a Money Order or use a very credit limit credit card for your online payments. Always check your credt card statements for *strange* payments and question the source. Non reciept of merchandise is also a very common complaint, this should be reported to eBay as soon as possible and law enforcement agencies. Receiving merchadise not as described should be brought to the attention of the seller first, try to resolve the problem, if too much time has lapsed with no resolve, place a complaint with eBay and contact law enforcement agencies to see if there is cause for a criminal complaint. If you suspect anything *fishy*, *strange*, *odd* or just too good to true, it may be best to not make a bid on the item.
    Late Payments: Should you have a rare instance instance of needing to send a payment beyond the payment due date; email the seller, explain reason, indicate the date payment will be made and how payment will be made. However, using a service such as PayPal, payments can be made immediatly.
    Shipping and Handling fee's - Always, always, always read the shipping information BEFORE bidding on any auction, Find out the sellers shipping and handling fee's. As each seller is granted to set thier own terms, this will vary from seller to seller. Do the seller offer multiple bid shipping or seperate shipping fee for each item? While one seller will charge $ .90 to ship your product another will charge you $ 10.00 to ship a similiar product, if the S & H fee is not to your liking, Dont bid on the auction.
    Short of Cash - Don't bid on an auction if you can't pay for it. Postponing a payment, not sending a payment, or hoping the seller will 'reserve' your auction is wishfull thinking and often results in negative feedback for you. eBay states that payment should be recieved within 7 days, which is more than ample time to make a payment to the seller. Leave playing games to children.
    Payments - Always pay on time or better yet, submit payment through PayPal as soon as the auction closes often results in speedy delivery of your auction product. NEVER send cash, as soon as your auction is completed, send a money order or check { if allowed } to your seller ASAP in order to meet the payment due deadline.
    User ID - Create a user ID other than your email address. We discovered using your email address creates TONS of SPAM, which indicates Spammers are going through eBay searching for email address's to send out thier useless crap to annoy, offend and burden you with deleting thier emails.

      Accurate Headings: Your product heading should be desciptive and not a marketing ploy, eBay users get really annoyed at Heading's like: @@@@ WHAT A BARGAIN !!!!!!!LOOK HERE !!!! @@@@ Lets be real about this - who are you trying to attract? some 12 year old? Treating your perspective bidders with some dignity and respect is good and will get you more bids.
      Complete Desciptions:  A clear concise simple description is always best. Be honest if the product was used, how much used? We sold 2 portable heaters on eBay which we purchased for our Office when our heating system went down and needed replacing, we used the 2 heaters continous for 3 working days then put them in storage. Several months later we offered both heaters on eBay at half cost, stating the products were used for 3 working days. We had the original boxes they came in, all documents, to say they were new would be deceptive
      Cut some slack: While most experienced folks at ebay pay for the auction within 24 hours using PayPal, there are many who are still afraid and show great concern about paying for anything over an internet connection while their fears are basically unfounded. They do need to be respected. Those who prefer to send you a Money Order will do so and you need to wait on the Post Office to deliver it, this will take 3-5 days. I do attest to the fact that the Post Office frequently runs late with mail delivery - So Cut some slack! Allow for the full 7 days to recieve payment then email the buyer and give notice of payment due within 72 hours. Granted eBay does state that payment should be made within 7 days, and I agree, but sometimes that letter with the Money Order you're expecting is going to come on the 8th - 9th or 10th day !
